The MLKP is a Turkish communist party of the Hoxhaist (Pro-Albanian)
tendency. It was founded in 1994 as a merger of three earlier
organizations. In Turkey it is an outlawed organization, considered
terrorist.
In Germany, the Verfassungsschutz (Office for the Protection of the
Constitution) is observing the party and counts about 600 supporters.
Internationally, the MLKP is part of the ICOR, a federation of mainly
Maoist communist parties, also including the German MLPD.
The MLKP is cooperating with several Kurdish organizations, in
particular the YPG, that became somewhat famous during the battle of Kobane.
The flag of the MLKP consists of the party symbol in yellow on a red field. The usual version shows the symbol in the upper
hoist canton (photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo). There is another version (photo) with a larger symbol filling the whole hoist half of the flag.
The symbol of the MLKP is a combination of hammer and sickle, a star in a
circle, and the party abbreviation.
